With Halloween just around the corner, consider handing out non candy items this year. The image below offers some great ideas that kids will love! Some other neat ideas are donating your extra candy that you get from trick or treating to soldiers over seas, or local food shelves. Happy Halloween!
So thankful to all the childcare homes who are part of the Little Sprouts Garden Gang family. This year I was fortunate enough to partner with 35 childcare homes and centers located in 21 different cities across the state of Minnesota. From Breezy Point to Woodstock and Pine Island to Perham, I was able to spread my message of Creating Generation Healthy to hundreds of children by providing free vegetable seeds and program information. Children across our state were able to learn about good nutrition, hands on, by planting gardens at their participating childcare homes. I am excited to reach out and provide seeds and support to even more children and communities next year.
I had the opportunity to help assist with SHIP's (Statewide Health Improvement Program) National Walk to School Day by handing out healthy snacks to the students who participated as they arrived at school. Apples were donated by Perham Health. thanks to all who participated and help organize this great event that promotes being active and eating healthy.
During one of my weekly volunteer visits we made hand print apple tree art. I love sharing my message about eating healthy and being active, and volunteering as an activities leader allows me to work one on one teaching kids hands on about #CreatingGenerationHealthy
