Creating Generation Healthy
What an honor to be able to crown these beautiful Princesses. The Waseca County Princess Program was held on the free stage at the Waseca County Fair. This year there were 17 crowned. Following their crowning, we split into teams at hit the midway for some fun and rides. Then we ended the day with shaved ice from snow biz, yum! Thank you Sharri's School of Dance, Snow Biz and Jackie Jenkins for sponsoring this amazing day for these all of these sweet Princesses.
Meet my Little Sprouts Garden Gang from Great Beginnings Childcare in Perham. Their garden is looking great, and we had fun counting out loud to the book I shared with them about gardening. I volunteer on a regular basis with this childcare, so it's fun for the kiddos to see me with my crown on as a special guest too. the little cutie on my lap has a shirt with a glittery crown on it, and when she wears it, she calls it her Annika shirt, isn't that too cute! I love my job!
What fun racing turtles today in my home town of Perham, but to make it even more special, I got to meet up with this 2017 Northern Light Princess, Savannah. I have a fun connection to Savannah via her older sister Sydney, who was my NLP in 2015, and also by her request again in 2016. Thanks for coming to spend the day racing turtles with me Savannah, I had an awesome time hanging out with you. I love the mentorships that being involved in MMNOT blesses me with.
What a couple of cuties showing off their garden at Little Fellows Childcare in Perham, MN. Congratulations to Anna and all child care providers who have taken the time to create an amazing learning opportunity to teach children about eating healthy and good nutrition. Together we are #CreatingGenerationHealthy one garden at a time!
Congratulations and Welcome to the newest members of the Class of 2018. Miss Riverfest, Hannah Brickson, and Miss Thief River Falls, Katrina Bugge!
I had the honor of attending the Northwest Pageant to welcome the new title holders. Devyn Ullyott was crowned Miss Northwest OT, and my former big sis, Alyssa Crum, was crowned Miss Norhtwest. Lucky for me, I got to spend some extra time with these two following the pageant at various Water Carnival events. Thanks for the fun memories ladies, can't wait to make more!
The kids and I enjoyed a fun book called From The Garden, we counted out loud all of the vegetables on each page. It is a great interactive book that I love to bring along to read when I meet with child cares who are part of Little Sprouts Garden Gang. We also took some pictures next to their garden. It is coming along great, keep up the good work guys. Together we are planting change one garden at at time. #creatinggenerationhealthy
Meet the crew from Otter Tots Childcare in Ottertail, MN standing proudly by their garden. What started out with some small packages of seeds is growing into big fun and learning about healthy food options. This is the second year this group of children has participated in Little Sprouts Garden Gang! I started Little Sprouts Garden Gang as a way to spread my message about Creating Generation Healthy, which focuses on getting children to Eat Real and Move More. I am proud to say that I am partnered with 35 childcare homes in 21 communities across the state, by offering free vegetable seeds for them to plant a garden with their daycare kids. Planting Change one Garden at a Time #creatinggenerationhealthy
It was such an honor to be recognized for all the service work I've completed. Thank you to the Algyer Family for sponsoring the Miss Minnesota's Outstanding Teen Community Service Award. Service is such a huge part of the Miss America Organization and I am blessed to be a part of something that promotes young woman to get involved in their communities and beyond. Since my involvement with this organization, I have volunteered with over 45 different service organizations, and have earned the Duke of Edinburgh Award, as well as the Presidents Volunteer Service Award.
