Creating Generation Healthy
Teen Orientation for the Class of 2017 was on Saturday.... same day as my State Speech competition. So how do you attend 2 events at the same time, with a little help from your friends. My amazing pageant sisters took good care of me and made sure I didn't miss out on a thing, here I am, Anni on a stick, LOL. I did actually get to come for the last couple hours to meet the other teens who didn't leave early.

My Speech Team incorporates a Team bonding Trip each year along with attending the State Speech Competition. This year we had 3 team members including myself who would be competing in the state tournament. On Thursday, we did a walk through at our high school and middle schools prior to loading the bus along with t our team and coaching staff. We arrived at our hotel in Eagen, and were given some free time to settle in before we were treated to a free meal courtesy of our sponsor, Arvig Communications. "Thanks Arvig!" Later that evening we had the opportunity to watch the Broadway Musical Wicked at the Orpheium Theater. Friday we got to spend some time at the Mall of America, watched AA Speech and enjoyed a Greek restaurant. Saturday morning we were up early to prep for our State tournament. I took 15th place and am proud to say that I gave it everything I had, and have no regrets. My goal for the season was to make it to state, mission accomplished.
I spoke to the East Otter Tail Professional Child Care Association last night. Shared information about my platform, Creating Generation Healthy, which is simply getting kids to be more active, and eat healthier. To help encourage being active, I have made kids exercise videos on youtube. To help children eat healthier, I created an Organization called Little Sprouts Garden Gang. At the meeting, I was fortunate to have even more providers sign up to participate in Little Sprouts Garden Gang. I will be providing them with free vegetable seeds and guidance in planting a garden with their daycare kids. Thanks to additional fundraising, I was able to increase the number of participants I could serve this year. I am pleased to announce that I am now at 35 Child Care Homes in 21 different communities throughout Minnesota.
I am so happy to be advancing to the state speech tournament alongside my teammates Olivia McNair, and Grace Kalina. I will be competing in the category of Serious Interpretation of Prose.
So proud of my Team. We claimed 1st Place in 5 Categories! And qualified 19 speakers and 3 alternates to sections in 11 of the 13 Categories. Thanks to our Coaches for always encouraging us to be our best.
